From App Fail to Body Literacy: My Story
The Full Story
As a certified Sensiplan instructor, I’m passionate about empowering women to understand their bodies through tracking key biomarkers, including Basal Body Temperature (BBT) and cervical mucus. My mission is to support women on their journeys to conceive, avoid pregnancy naturally, or build body literacy for lifelong health.
I began my charting journey in 2017 after falling unexpectedly pregnant while using an FDA-approved birth control app to predict fertility. After my daughter was born, I was determined not to repeat the same mistake—but unsure of what my options were. I turned to the Depo-Provera injection, hoping for something low-maintenance. Instead, I ended up bleeding continuously for six months, going through multiple scans and doctor visits before finally being told the shot was to blame.
That experience was the final push. I knew I never wanted to rely on hormonal contraception again.
I started reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and for the first time, things made sense. I taught myself how to prevent pregnancy safely, naturally, and confidently. I discovered how powerful body literacy really is—and I’ve been charting ever since.
When we were ready to grow our family again, I used Sensiplan to conceive my second son. Being able to switch seamlessly from avoiding to trying to conceive using the same method was a game-changer—and reinforced just how adaptable and empowering this approach can be.
After his birth, in 2022, I made the decision to leave my nursing career and travel to Germany to begin training with Sensiplan. I now support women worldwide in learning fertility awareness for hormone-free birth control, conception support, and deeper health insights.
I’m also currently pregnant with baby number three and studying an advanced hormone health certification to expand my work as a women’s health coach. My goal is to support women not only through fertility awareness, but through every phase of their hormonal lives.
When I’m not supporting clients, I’m probably listening to a podcast (women’s health or true crime, depending on the mood), renovating our home, or chasing after my little ones with a coffee in hand.
I’d love to connect with you—whether you’re cycle-curious, ready to ditch hormonal birth control, or just want to feel more confident in your body.
